Can we talk about big sisters for a second? As an NYC studio newborn photographer, sessions like this one are exactly why I love what I do. Because this big sister? She walked into the studio like she owned the place — pink bow perfectly in place, smocked dress on point, and absolutely ZERO hesitation about being the star of the show. We love her.

And then there was baby girl. Wrapped up in the most gorgeous floral swaddle, blinking those big blue eyes at the world like she was trying to figure out exactly what she’d arrived into. Spoiler: she arrived into the best family.

This session was everything.

The Big Sister Stole the Show (And We’re Not Mad About It)

There is something so special about photographing a family in those early newborn days when everyone is still figuring out their new normal. Big sister was very into her role. She sat right down next to her baby sister, leaned in close, and looked at her with this mix of curiosity and pride that honestly melted everyone in the studio.

That Swaddle Though

The floral muslin swaddle with the little bunnies and botanicals? Absolutely dreamy. It photographed so beautifully against the clean white NYC studio newborn backdrop and complemented big sister’s pink smocked dress perfectly.

Mom, Dad & the Whole Crew

There is nothing quite like photographing a family portrait when there’s a brand new baby in the mix. Mom and dad came in relaxed, happy, and so clearly soaking in every second of this season. Baby girl was cozy in mom’s arms, big sister was front and center (naturally), and dad held it all together with the biggest smile.

These are the family portraits that get framed. The ones that sit on the mantle and get pointed to every single time someone visits. “That’s when our family became four.”

The Tiny Details We Can’t Get Enough Of

Between the full family portraits and the sibling shots, we slowed way down to capture all the tiny details that go by so fast — the rosebud lips, the perfect little nose, the way newborns tuck their chin and curl their fingers like they’re still dreaming of wherever they came from.
