This Brooklyn in-home newborn photography session took place in the baby’s nursery, with his parents and their first baby—the family corgi—joining in. We photographed everyone together, made time for portraits of the baby with each parent, and used the nursery for his individual photos.
I love that their dog is part of so many images. He was there beside the family, near the crib, and even next to the baby for a portrait. These photos show what their family looked like when they brought their son home.

The nursery gave us several places to photograph the family, from the chair beside the window to the baby’s crib. We started with portraits of his parents holding him, then photographed them together with the corgi close by.
An in-home newborn session can include the rooms that are already part of your daily life. There’s no need for the nursery to look perfect. In this session, the crib, books, and small details of the room help tell the story of where their baby’s first days were spent.

Their corgi joined the family portraits and stayed close while we photographed the baby in the nursery. One of my favorite images shows him looking toward the crib. We also photographed the baby resting in a basket with the corgi beside him, with a parent close at hand.
If your dog is part of your family, we can plan to include them in a few newborn photos at home. Some dogs are happiest sitting with everyone for a portrait; others give us a sweet moment simply by being nearby.
For his individual portraits, the baby wore a white outfit from our studio closet by El Rincón de María. We photographed him in the nursery and took close portraits that show his face and the details of the outfit. The white worked beautifully with the soft colors already in the room.
