This NYC studio newborn photography session brought a family of four together for their first portraits with their new baby. We began with everyone against the white backdrop, then made time for photos of each parent with the baby, the two sisters together, and individual portraits of both girls.

The family wore soft, simple colors that worked beautifully in the studio. We photographed them standing together and sitting close, giving them a few different ways to remember these early days as a family of four.
Newborn sessions include plenty of time for family photos. You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly how you want to pose or which combinations you’d like. I’ll help you through it, from photos of everyone together to quieter portraits of each parent holding the baby.
We also made space for big sister. She sat beside the baby for a portrait of just the two of them, and we took a few photos of her on her own in her blue dress. Including an older sibling is such a meaningful part of a newborn session: these photos remember her at this age, too, right as her family is growing.
There’s no pressure for a sibling to stay in front of the camera for the entire session. We can photograph them with the family, take a break, and invite them back when it’s time for another photo.

For the baby’s individual portraits, we kept the styling soft and simple, with a pale outfit and a small white bow. The white backdrop lets the focus stay on her face and the details her family will want to remember.
I love seeing these portraits in both color and black and white. When you choose the images for your collection, you receive each selected image in both versions. For example, if your collection includes six images, you choose six photos and receive all six in color and black and white.

If you’re planning an NYC studio newborn session, get in touch and tell me when your baby is due. I’d love to photograph this time for your family.
