I have been photographing this family since their oldest child turned one. Over the years, we have planned multiple sessions together, documenting birthdays, new stages and their family as it has grown. This time, I traveled from NYC to Long Island for an in-home newborn session welcoming their third baby.
Photographing a family regularly creates such a meaningful record of how much changes over time. Their oldest, whom I first photographed as a one-year-old, is now a big brother to two younger siblings. Seeing all three children together made this session feel especially significant.

For this newborn session, we worked entirely with the natural light available inside their Long Island home. Their light-colored rooms, white bedding and simple clothing created the bright, neutral look that defines my newborn photography.
We began with photographs of the three siblings together. With young children, these moments are never overly directed. I give them simple guidance and allow room for their natural interactions, expressions and personalities. We also photographed each parent with the baby, the entire family together and individual newborn portraits.
An in-home newborn session allows families to be photographed in a familiar setting without needing to travel with a new baby and older siblings. I bring everything needed for the session and look for the rooms with the most flattering natural light. A home does not need to be completely white or professionally styled. Good window light and a few uncluttered areas are usually all we need.

The family chose a soft palette of white, ivory, pale blue and light neutrals. These colors worked beautifully with the natural light in their home and kept the photographs feeling clean and timeless.
Baby wore a pale blue Feltman Brothers outfit from my studio baby closet. My baby wardrobe includes classic pieces for families to use during both studio and in-home sessions, making it easier to coordinate clothing without purchasing something new specifically for the photographs.
For in-home newborn sessions, I generally recommend soft neutral colors, subtle textures and clothing without large patterns or logos. Coordinating does not mean everyone needs to match exactly. Choosing colors that work well together creates a more natural result.
I offer in-home newborn photography throughout Manhattan, Long Island and nearby areas. These sessions are typically scheduled during the baby’s first two to four weeks, although there is flexibility depending on the family and how everyone is adjusting.
It has been such a joy to work with this family through so many stages and to now photograph them as a family of five.
