Flatiron Newborn Photographer | A Newborn and Her Pup

As a Flatiron newborn photographer, I meet most of my families twice in the first weeks — once by email or call, and once when they walk in with a baby who is only days old. This family arrived with their newborn daughter and one more family member: their dog, in a lace bandana for the occasion.

Dogs Are Welcome at the Studio

Families ask about this all the time, so here is the answer: yes, bring the dog. A pet is part of the family, and these photos prove why it’s worth it. He stayed close to her the whole session, and the frames of the two of them together are the ones this family will keep on the wall the longest.

Why Families Choose a Flatiron Newborn Photographer

The studio is filled with natural light, and everything for your newborn session is already here — wraps, outfits, and accessories from the studio closet. This session stayed simple: white and cream, a knit set, a lace wrap, and no props competing with the baby. Parents are always in more photos than they expect. Those are the ones that matter most in ten years.

She slept through nearly all of it. We documented the details while she did — her hands, her feet, the newborn curl she will only have for another week or two.

Booking a Newborn Session

The best time to book is during pregnancy, so your due date holds a spot on the calendar. If a session like this one is something you’d want for your own family, I’d love to make it happen. Whether you’re drawn to the comfort of doing this at home or you’d rather come sit in the natural light of our Flatiron studio, both are always an option. Reach out here and let’s talk about what would feel right for you.

Love, Melissa
