For In-Home & Studio Sessions
Here's the thing: if your baby cries, fusses, or needs to feed the entire time, that's completely okay. We follow their lead, always. There's zero pressure here.
I've held plenty of crying babies and waited through cluster feeds. We have all the time we need.
One day, you'll look back at these photos and see more than just a tiny baby. You'll see yourself at the beginning of motherhood—tired, overwhelmed maybe, but also capable and deeply loved by this little person.
These early weeks matter. You matter. And you deserve to have this time documented by someone who gets it.
For Studio Sessions
This list is pretty short. You'll need to bring:
Your baby dressed in a zip or button-up sleeper
Your diaper bag with standard contents (diapers, wipes, burp cloth, formula, etc.)
A pacifier (even if your baby hasn't shown interest yet)
A supportive bra, nude panties, and shape wear (if desired)
Any special items you'd like to incorporate into the session
Note: I have water wipes at the studio, but feel free to bring your own if preferred
For In-Home Sessions
Here's the truth: you just brought a baby home. Your house doesn't need to be spotless.
Just have the basics ready:
Your baby in a zip or button-up sleeper
A pacifier (even if your baby hasn't shown interest yet)
A supportive bra, nude panties, and shape wear (if desired)
Any special items you'd like to incorporate into the session
I'll handle the rest. We'll move things around, find the best light, work with your space, and I'll make sure the area we're shooting looks beautiful. You don't need to stress about mess or clutter—that's my job. You just focus on your baby.
For Studio Sessions
You don't need to bring outfits for your baby—I have you covered. My studio baby closet is filled with beautiful, timeless pieces including Feltman Brothers, Paz Rodriguez, and other classic knitwear. These are investment-quality outfits that photograph beautifully and never go out of style.
We'll also choose from my collection of:
Soft, neutral swaddles
Beautiful blankets and wraps
Bows and bonnets
Of course, if you have any special outfits or heirloom pieces you'd like to include in the session, you're welcome to bring those too. We can mix and match to create the perfect look for your baby.
For In-Home Sessions
I'll bring a selection of beautiful pieces from my baby closet to you—so you get the luxury outfits without needing to travel to the studio. We'll work with what photographs best in your home's light and space, or we can keep baby in their own special sleeper if you prefer. Either way, you'll have options.
If you have any special outfits or pieces you'd like to include, just let me know and we'll work them in.
Every season, I add new timeless pieces to the collection—soft knitwear, wraps, bonnets, and classics that never go out of style. The closet is always evolving, so you'll have access to the latest additions each time you book.
For Mom:
A dress is always your best option. I love how dresses photograph—especially flowy, linen-style pieces like Hillhouse linen dresses. They move beautifully, feel comfortable while you're holding your baby, and photograph timelessly.
Pick a neutral color palette (creams, taupes, soft grays, whites)
For Dad:
Khaki or grey pants with a neutral top
Why neutrals?
I love to focus on the bond between you and your baby. We don't want any one person to stand out more than the other. Neutral outfits create a cohesive image where the focus remains on your baby. Plus, it gives you more flexibility for displaying your beautiful newborn photography images throughout your home.
Feel free to ask me for advice, share options, and get my opinions. I can help take some of the stress off your plate when it comes to preparing for your newborn session.
Your photographs should feel just as beautiful twenty years from now as they do today.
Classic silhouettes, natural fabrics, and simple, well-loved pieces will always outlast fast-changing trends. Skip anything that feels overly trendy or likely to date your photographs.
When in doubt, choose the outfit you'll still love years from now. Your family's connection should be what stands out—not the fashion of the moment.
Beautiful photographs don't need busy patterns—they need depth.
Soft textures like linen, cotton gauze, knit sweaters, lace, eyelet, muslin, velvet, wool, and subtle embroidery create richness without distracting from the people wearing them. Patterns can be beautiful too, but use them thoughtfully. If one family member wears a delicate floral or subtle plaid, let everyone else wear solids or textured fabrics to create balance.
When in doubt, choose texture over pattern. It's timeless, effortless, and keeps the focus exactly where it belongs—on your family.
The most timeless photographs are the ones where your family is the first thing you notice.
Large logos, character graphics, athletic wear, neon colors, and busy prints can easily pull attention away from the moments you're trying to preserve. While they may feel fun today, they can quickly make your photographs feel dated years from now.
Instead, choose clothing that quietly complements the story you're telling. The goal is for people to notice your family's connection—not what everyone was wearing.
Beautiful photographs begin with feeling comfortable.
If you're constantly adjusting a dress, pulling at a neckline, or asking your toddler to stop scratching an itchy sweater, it will show.
Choose clothing you can move, cuddle, sit on the floor, lift little ones, and simply live in. If you're comfortable, you'll spend less time thinking about your outfit and more time enjoying your family.
What Happens During Your Session
Once you arrive (or I arrive at your home), I'll help your baby get comfortable and ready—whether that's soothing, rocking, or feeding. You know your baby best, so if you prefer to handle diaper changes or feeding, just let me know. Whatever works best for your family is what we'll do.
While your baby settles, you can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea knowing we're taking good care of things.
Once we're done with baby photos—usually about an hour—we'll move on to family pictures.
Session Length
Babies have opinions, and sometimes they need extra time to get happy before they're ready for pictures. The more siblings you have, especially if they're young, can also make sessions run a bit longer.
I know how exhausting having a newborn is though, and you'll be ready to eat and rest. So I promise I'll have you out the door no later than 3 hours.
Bringing Siblings?
If you're bringing sibling(s), the dynamic will change. We'll start with sibling and family photos first since toddlers tend to have a shorter attention span and we don't want to miss any sweet moments. I like to make it easier and fun for them. Once we're done with siblings and family photos, I'll stay with the baby for solo pictures.
Your kids are going through a big change too. They're adjusting to sharing you, sharing the house, sharing everything. Give them some time and grace during this session.
Talk to them beforehand. Let them know we're coming to take pictures together and that it'll be fun—not a stressful photo shoot.
Bring snacks. Hungry kids are grumpy kids. Pack their favorites.
Bring a small toy or reward. Once we're done with their photos, having something special to look forward to makes a big difference.
I'm really good with kids of all ages, and I know how to make this playful and fun for them. We'll play games, make silly sounds, get them moving—whatever it takes to capture their genuine personality and excitement about being a big sibling. Your job is just to relax and let me handle the energy.
Once we're done with siblings and family photos, I'll stay with the baby for solo pictures while you can give your kids some one-on-one attention if needed.
Here's what helps:
You know your child best. Some children are shy. Some are endlessly energetic. Some need extra time to warm up, and some may tell you they don't want their photograph taken at all — and that's okay, too.
If there's anything you'd like me to know ahead of time, please share it. The more I understand your child, the better I can meet them exactly where they are.
And if a little encouragement helps? I'm all for it. A favorite snack, a small treat, or a special activity afterward can go a long way. You know what motivates your child best, so trust your instincts.
Babies rarely nap exactly when we'd planned, and toddlers have a way of keeping us humble. If you can, try to arrive with little ones fed and reasonably rested. Beyond that, give yourself permission to let go of the details.
The truth is, children don't need to be perfectly behaved for beautiful photographs to happen. The laughter, the wiggles, the snack breaks, the unexpected moments — they're all part of the story.
So take a breath. Trust that you're prepared. Be present with the people you love, and I'll take care of the rest — including the moments when someone decides to make a run for it.
I understand all the emotions you're experiencing as a brand new mom. I know you don't feel or look like your usual self right now, and that's completely normal.
Here's what I want you to know: you deserve to feel beautiful in these photos. A thoughtfully selected outfit and the right photographer behind the lens will make sure you look and feel good—without you having to stress about getting everything perfect.
Focus on your baby. I'll make sure you look like the beautiful mom you are.
Perfect. Truly.
Children don't need to sit still or smile on command to create beautiful photographs. Some of my favorite images happen while they're exploring, cuddling, laughing, or simply being themselves.
I follow your children's lead rather than expecting them to perform.
Of course! If your furry family member is joining us, just let me know beforehand so we can plan the session around them.
If possible, bring someone along who can take your pup home or for a walk once we've finished photographing them, allowing us to focus on the rest of your family as well.
Some of the sweetest moments happen with wagging tails included.
No newborn session goes exactly as planned. Your baby might cry during photos. They might need to feed unexpectedly. Their diaper might have a blowout right when we're about to start. None of those things are problems.
The less tightly we hold onto expectations, the more room there is for genuine moments to unfold. And those are the moments you'll treasure years from now.
Enjoy the moment. I'll take care of everything else.
Over the next 2–3 weeks, every image is carefully selected and individually edited with my signature style.
You'll receive an email with your proofing gallery, ready for you to fall in love with your images.
Choose your favorites online, or join me for an in-person viewing at the studio. This is when you select the collection that's right for your family.
Your final gallery and heirloom artwork arrive according to the collection you've chosen — ready to print, frame, and revisit for years to come.
Leave the checklist in the car.
If someone's a little shy, we'll take our time. If someone's full of energy, we'll lean into it. If your baby needs feeding or your toddler needs a cuddle, we'll pause. There is nowhere else you need to be and nothing you need to rush.
The most beautiful photographs aren't made because everything went according to plan. They're made because a family showed up exactly as they are.
And that's more than enough.
